The Department of Journalism announces the deadline extension for the Flip Wilson Memorial Scholarship.

All applicants must be MAJORS in the Department of Journalism at CSUN.

Application forms are available online at www.csun.edu/journalism or in the Journalism Office, MZ 210.



The 2008 Flip Wilson Memorial Scholarship, which offers $17,722 for tuition, room, board, books and fees for a students' senior year has been extended to Thursday, May 1, 2008 by 5 p.m.



Applicants must submit a 2,500-3,000 word, two-part critical essay. The first part will explore Wilson's work and its impact on television and comedy during the 1970s. The second part will draw comparisons and contrasts between African-American media issues today and Wilson's earlier work. A bibliography must be included.



All Five Conditions of Eligibility Must Be Met:

· Journalism Major

· Junior standing, spring 2008

· Enrolled in 12 or more units in fall 2008 and spring 2009

· GPA at least 3.0

· Demonstrated financial need
